Magento 2 checkout doesn’t use backend address templates anymore

Have you ever wanted to add, remove or to rearrange an address field in the checkout?

If so then you’ve probably taken a look at Magento 2’s address templates, just like we used to do it back in Magento 1:

Unfortunately in Magento 2 none of these fields will help you. While they are the place to go for address template modifications in general, they are ignored entirely in the checkout. And according to Magento 2 dev team that’s a feature, not a bug.

If you wish to edit these address fields in checkout, then you need to enable frontend hints, copy the affected files to your style directory and change them accordingly.

Removing the default slider revolution borders and shadows

When using Slider Revolution in combination with Avada, a border and a shadow are displayed above and beneath the slides. Those effects can’t be removed in the Slider Revolution tab itself, yet manually overwriting the CSS isn’t necessary.
To remove those borders and shadows, simply click on Avada > Theme Options > Advanced >Theme Features. There, find the “Avada Styles For Revolutions Slider” option and switch it off.

I just had a root server with Nginx, PHP and PostgreSQL set up and came across some difficulties.

So I can save other tedious troubleshooting I share here with my solution.

Windows 10 Update: Apache doesn’t work

After we updated our computers to Windows 10, we weren’t able to run the Apache modul on Xampp anymore. The error mesage was the following:

Problem detected! 09:06:26 [Apache] Port 80 in use by “Unable to open process” with PID 4! 09:06:26 [Apache] Apache WILL NOT start without the configured ports free! 09:06:26 [Apache] You need to uninstall/disable/reconfigure the blocking application 09:06:26 [Apache] or reconfigure Apache and the Control Panel to listen on a different port

Since we didn’t change anything about our ports and before the update everything worked well, it had to be an issue related to the Windows 10 update. (more…)

WordPress Login/Logout Link for Navigation

Recently i wanted to add a login/logout link to one of the menus of my wordpress theme. I wasn’t able to find a nice solution for this. So i wrote down a thow to solve this for you guys. You just have to add the following link to you functions.pgp file and make the adjustments fitting to your needs. In the code you can also define the redirect link for the login and logout pages.

SQL to Laravel seeder converter

I recently was in development prior to the problem that there is no way to convert an SQL table in a Laravel seeder, I have summarily decided to write a little script.

Particularly in the case of a larger table such as the countries, it is very troublesome to write the seeder manually. Here is the help:
